Welcome to our website devoted to Ham Radio and Lighthouses.

There is a strong following of lighthouse enthusiasts around the world and amateur radio makes for an interesting connection.

Purpose of activities:

i. This event is not a contest, there are no prizes or any other enticements to participate and is therefore free of charge.

ii. To promote public awareness of ham radio and lighthouses in Malaysia.

iii. To acknowledge the contribution and recognition of the lighthouses and their keepers.

iv. To foster fellowship among members of the various Ham Radio clubs and Lighthouse Societies in Malaysia.

v. To gain experience for DX-peditions for the Ham Radio operators and to promote “exotic” Malaysia among International DXCC chasers or seekers.

vi. Pilot project proposed, as a future yearly event on the 2nd weekend of August and to be inserted in the Tourism Malaysia Calendar of the year.
vii. Since the 2nd weekend of August every year, coincides with the “Asia Pacific JOTA”, this ILLW event is extended to all Boy Scouts and Girl Guides via BP House Malaysia, to join in the fun at the light houses or contact the light houses via Ham Radio.

Day 2 - MLHW 2009 - 9M4LHC (Part 2)

Di sebelah petang hari ke 2. Sesi bergambar kenang-kenangan sebelum mengakhiri aktiviti Dxing.
Sesi penerangan kepada anggota TLDM yang datang melawat. Ramai sungguh yang hadir YL pun ada nanti boleh la join tahun hadapan ya.

Mula mengemas semua peralatan menjelang jam 14.00H

Sesi 'round table' di pekan Balok selepas bersurai dari rumah api Tg Gelang.

Saya bagi pihak penganjur merakamkan ribuan terima kasih kepada semua agensi yang terlibat seperti TLDM Markas Wilayah Laut 1, Tg Gelang, Jabatan Laut Wilayah Timur dan semua rakan-rakan RA yang terlibat memberi sumbangan menjayakan aktiviti MLHW 2009 - 9M4LHC pada tahun ini. Semoga dapat bertemu lagi pada aktiviti yang sama pada tahun hadapan. Jumpa lagi. 73

Day 2 - MLHW 2009 - 9M4LHC (Part 1)

Bertemu pada hari ke 2 di Tg Gelang Lighthouse. Cuaca sungguh panas sekali. Aktiviti DXing masih diteruskan lagi terutama di 20m band dan 40m band.

Setup utk bekerja di 20m & 15m band

9W2GUU masih meninjau-ninjau dimana lagi nak dipasangkan antenna.

Day 1 - MLHW 2009 - 9M4LHC (Part 2)

Pada pagi tu sudah mula kedengaran station-station DX mula memanggil CQ di 20m band. Cukup baik cuaca pada masa itu namun demikian menjelang tengah hari agak begitu panas sekali cuaca menjangkau 30 degree C.

Sesi mengatur strategi untuk memulakan DXing. Ada yang kata sini dan ada yang kata situ hehehehe.
Keadaan di perkarangan Rumah Api sambil-sambil 9W2USS dan 9W2WWW mengejas-ejas antenna 2m.

Day 1 - MLHW 2009 - 9M4LHC (Part 1)

Tiba di perkarangan Lighthouse sekitar jam 12.15 am pada 15 Ogos setelah melepasi pondok pengawal kezselamatan Pengkalan TLDM. Aktiviti pun bermula dengan setup station dan pemasangan antenna. Krew yang terlibat pada masa itu 9M2TOT, 9W2MAB, 9W2HOO, 9W2GUU & 9W2RZL.

Memasang yagi 3 bander sambil dibantu oleh 9W2MAB (kiri) & 9W2HOO (kanan)

9W2GUU dok sibuk setup tranciever sambil 9W2RZL dok mencari-cari diagram utk ukuran antenna

Buat betul-betul jangan main-main di tegur oleh Station Master 9M2TOT (baju putih)

Semua siap selesai pada jam 4.00am sambil diikuti hujan lebat pada masa itu. So apa lagi time to horizontal.

MLHW 2009 - Tg Gelang

International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend is an International Event Where Amateur Radio Operator will setup a Station within Lighthouse Compound and try to contact other lighthouse all around the world. The event is always held on the 3rd full weekend in August starting at 0001 UTC on Saturday and finishing at 2359 UTC on Sunday.
The objective of this event is to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration, to promote amateur radio and to foster International goodwill. This event is open to all. Please inform me if you want to be there. The detail of the event as below :
